Jeremy Mayfield The Need For Speed

Lesley PolekOct 9, 2009

It appears that Jeremy not only had a need for speed on the track but also off the track. As a former addict myself I know all about denial and the lies that go with it. Jeremy shows all the classic signs. "Oh I was taking allergy medicine". Benedryl has diphenhydramine in it and it can make you drowsy. Nothing in it to make you high on speed. Claritin has one of the componants used in making speed. So the allergy medicine excuse won't work as a defense.

Now onto witnesses. He has a slew of people in his camp that will testify they saw him on numerous occassions using methamphetamines. They saw him using it at the track and off the track. I don't know why he's insisting he's innocent.

The best thing Jeremy Mayfield could do is plead guilty and go into an intense inhouse rehab. They have good ones in FL, CA, AZ. NASCAR and some of his racing buddies should do an intervention. Get one of the people from the show "Intervention" Monday night at 8 on A&E. Have them come to Jeremy's house or NASCAR's office and do the intervention there. He really needs to have this done and get into rehab asap.

I don't even know why NASCAR is allowing this to drag out. It's like a soap opera. "All My Excuses", "As the Race Car Turns", "Drugs of Our Choice", "General Racetrack", "The Young and The Wreckless", "Bold and Dumb", "Another Subpeona". He's failed 2 NASCAR drug tests that's enough for me. The fact that he wants an outside lab to do the test, taht's so he can have someone else pee for him and he can come up clean and get cleared. Then NASCAR will test him and he's dirty once again. So he's suspended again.

I say lets just intervene his butt and get him into an intense inhouse rehab the when he gets out he's to go to intense outpatient rehab and live in a sober living house. Mandate him to meetings for a year after a year of rehab. This way he's 2 years clean should NASCAR allow him to come back. He gets tested every raceday and first time he comes up dirty he's gone for good. Although my personal opinion is he should be done for good now. It appears he doesn't want to admit he has a problem.
