Kyrie Irving to Play 'Uncle Drew' in Upcoming Movie
Kyrie Irving's popular "Uncle Drew" character featured in Pepsi commercials is coming to the big screen.
According to Justin Kroll of Variety, an Uncle Drew movie starring Irving playing the grandfatherly persona who can hoop it up is in the works. The film will look back at the origins of Drew's legend, which began at the Rucker Park basketball court in Harlem, and follow his return to the courts decades later.
Those of you wondering if other members of the Cleveland Cavaliers will join Irving for this project may be in luck. Jay Longino, the film's screenwriter, told Kroll somebody who is "a fan of the NBA, both its past and its present," will be pleased with the cast.
Irving assisting a 70-year-old LeBron James could be a scene worthy of an Oscar.
