WWE Elimination Chamber 2017: Power Ranking Stars Most Likely to Steal the Show

Aaron BowerFeb 8, 2017

The Road to WrestleMania 33 will continue this Sunday when WWE SmackDown hosts its final brand-exclusive pay-per-view before the biggest show of the year.

Elimination Chamber's main event will see six of the blue brand's top names wage war for the WWE Championship, with John Cena looking to preserve his place in the main event of WrestleMania in the process.

And with exciting matches all across the card, fans can expect a night when plenty of Superstars catch the eyes of fans and do their best to steal the show, which is becoming customary for SmackDown.

Here's a look at five candidates who could steal the show and prove that they are more than ready for WrestleMania 33.

5. Naomi

1 of 5

Although she hasn't been at the top of SmackDown's women's division since the brand split, Naomi is looking like she's in her prime at the moment.

She gives the whole division something it doesn't have: a female competitor who isn't afraid to put her body on the line for the sake of entertainment.

She may come up short against Alexa Bliss at Elimination Chamber this Sunday, but given her recent form, she may be the female wrestler on fans' lips heading to WrestleMania.

Naomi has shown in recent weeks that she's in a position to challenge for Bliss' title on a regular basis. Sunday should be no different, and she will be out to impress.

Don't bank on her disappointing.

4. Luke Harper

2 of 5

Sunday is going to be an interesting night for many people, but perhaps none more so than Luke Harper.

It looks certain that Harper is splitting from The Wyatt Family and embarking on a run as a singles competitor. That might not be a bad thing, as Harper has all the tools to succeed by himself.

But Sunday's match against Randy Orton will be a major yardstick to determine whether Harper can stand on his own.

Harper is arguably WWE's most agile big man on his feet and a great wrestler.

Finding the gimmick or direction that frees him from being perennially in Bray Wyatt's shadow may be a tough task, but when he gets the chance to shine on Sunday, Harper will deliver when it comes to the action inside the ring.

3. American Alpha

3 of 5

With all six of SmackDown's tag teams competing on the main card at Elimination Chamber on Sunday night, there's plenty of room to impress.

But it will most likely be the reigning champions, American Alpha, who steal the show in that match this weekend.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable have, on occasion, found it tough to find opponents with whom they can have the kinds of matches WWE fans all know they are capable of.

But if, as expected, they end up working a feud with The Usos for WrestleMania, it will be spectacular viewing.

Sunday should be a precursor for that rivalry, and knowing them from their time in NXT, this could be the night for Jordan and Gable to truly show their worth in SmackDown's tag division.

2. Baron Corbin

4 of 5

Lately, Baron Corbin has been showing all the signs of being the next big breakout Superstar on Tuesday nights.

He picked up a major win against AJ Styles this past Tuesday, and although he won't win Sunday inside the Elimination Chamber, he will set up a huge few months with a strong performance in the main event.

Corbin has the look of a guy set for SmackDown's main event scene, and his in-ring performances have been backing that up of late.

The Lone Wolf's time has yet to come, but he will give his all to show that he has a bright future.

Corbin has made it a habit lately to catch the eye when fans least expect it, and he could do so again in the main event this weekend.

1. AJ Styles

5 of 5

Even though he surrendered the WWE Championship to John Cena, there's little doubting who is most likely to steal the show on Sunday night.

AJ Styles is SmackDown's biggest Superstar despite losing to Cena at Royal Rumble last month, and his debut inside the Elimination Chamber is going to do nothing to change that.

The structure is made for those whose in-ring styles involve taking risks and putting their bodies on the line, and Styles fits that description to perfection.

He may end up losing on Sunday at the expense of someone like Cena or Bray Wyatt, but he's going to put up a real fight in the process.

Sunday is all about the Road to WrestleMania, and even though Styles' route there is not yet clear, he's the star who could steal the show this weekend.
