Ohio Middle School Wrestler Helps Opponent with Down Syndrome Win Match
An eighth-grade wrestler in Dublin, Ohio, displayed inspiring sportsmanship by leading his competitor to victory.
Attendees roared in jubilation when Sells Middle School's Nick Lambert earned his first victory over Casey Magyar. Lambert, 13, has Down syndrome.
"I felt that he had been practicing and working hard and he deserved the chance to get a real live match," Magyar told NBC4 Columbus' Tyler Carter.
Magyar's little brother, Dylan, is also a wrestler with the same condition. Nick's sister, Taylor Lambert, expressed gratitude for Casey's gesture.
"Knowing that he got to participate like everyone else, that's one of my big goals as a person, to get everyone with a disability to do that," Taylor said. "And it made me so happy inside that Casey was willing to do that too."
