The Florida Gators made a nice splash for 2018, securing the commitment of running back Iverson Clement.
Clement announced his decision Thursday:

The Mount Holly, New Jersey, native is the No. 27 running back in the country and No. 1 at his position in the state, per Scout. Clement's profile has risen as a result of his strong junior campaign. His rushing total nearly tripled in 2016 compared to his 2015 output, per MaxPreps:
| 2015 | 92 | 555 | 6.0 | 9 | 18 | 171 | 2 |
| 2016 | 194 | 1,430 | 7.4 | 19 | 7 | 24 | 1 |
Clement has the physical tools to excel in college. He boasts a 4.49-second 40-yard dash and an 11.2-second 100-meter dash, according to Hudl. He's also very agile and capable of making defenders miss in tight spaces:
Clement isn't the prototypical home-run threat every time he touches the ball, but he'll be able to make what normally are short gains into big plays on occasion.
His stock should continue to climb as he gets older. At 5'11" and 188 pounds, he's a little undersized. That won't be the case much longer, though, as he physically matures.
Clement could prove to be one of the more underrated additions for Florida's 2018 class. He's a dynamic offensive weapon who could play a role in both the running and passing games, and he'll be a solid returner as well if given the opportunity.
Clement will likely have to take a back seat in his first year with the Gators, since unseating Jordan Scarlett won't be easy, andย Lamical Perine will be waiting in the wings. Scarlett ran for 889 yards and six touchdowns in 2016, while Perine was second on the team with 421 yards and a touchdown.
Florida's running gameโand the offense as a wholeโhas been a major problem in recent years, however, so head coach Jim McElwain may be more willing to think outside the box.
Clement could be a situational option for McElwain in 2018 before assuming a bigger role in 2019 and beyond.
