B/R Kicks: Top Releases of the Week

Giancarlo Ferrari-KingFeb 2, 2017

February 2017 is off to a hot start, thanks to a series of rare and elegant sneaker choices.

In this week's edition of top releases, we dove into what Jordan Brand is offering, took a look at another Adidas NMD_R1 model and featured a collaboration that brought two streetwear brands together with the three-stripe empire.

Now that we've covered the criteria, let's check out what's on the docket for the days ahead.

Adidas Superstar Boost x Bape x Neighborhood

1 of 5

Sneaker: Adidas Superstar Boost x Bape x Neighborhood

Release Date: February 4

How can you reinvent a classic? Adidas attempts to answer this question by collaborating with power brands Bape and Neighborhood on the Superstar model.

The trifecta sparked by the German footwear giant has changed the way we look at the Superstar. Instead of slapping on new features, each company came together for what appears to be a complete redesign.

Notice the suede material-like lining. Embrace the Primeknit ankle support beam. Together these elements give the Superstar a modernized facelift that we can all appreciate.

Air Jordan IV 'Royalty'

2 of 5

Sneaker: Air Jordan IV "Royalty"

Release Date: February 4

Air Jordan IV fans will be thrilled to hear the "Royalty" version will finally release on February 4. This shoe takes on the silhouette MJ wore during the 1988-89 campaign—a season during which he averaged 32.5 points and eight assists per game—and sprinkles premium textures all over it.

Notice the gold accents surrounding the traditional lace cage. Hints of gold, as subtle as they are, give a prominently black colorway enough of a pop to last. But Jordan Brand's use of gold doesn't stop there. Embossed into the tongue, the "Royalty" Air Jordan IV logo helps round out the sneaker.

The fusion of gold and black—not to mention a white midsole—makes the "Royalty" IV a must-own release. Stick to the Nike SNKRS app on February 4 for your shot at claiming these $190 gems.

Adidas NMD_R1 'White Gum'

3 of 5

Sneaker: Adidas NMD R1 "White Gum"

Release Date: February 4

The Adidas NMD_R1 returns on February 4th in the form of a "Gum" pack. Spread out between "White Gum" and "Black Gum" colorways, these kicks were blessed with the inclusion of a gum sole—makes sense, right?

You don't need me to sell you on these kicks if you're already a dedicated member of Adidas' NMD society. A full-body Primeknit upper and gum sole are both strong selling points. You're going to get superior comfort levels with plenty of support.

No matter what colorway you choose, procuring a pair of the NMD R1 "Gum Pack" seems like a good bet.

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'Ishod Wair'

4 of 5

Sneaker: Nike SB Dunk Low Pro "Ishod Wair"

Release Date: February 2

If you're not familiar with the name, you should be. Ishod Wair has helped usher in a new era of professional skateboarding. The 25-year-old is a member of the Nike skate family and has also used his position to help enhance the Dunk lineup.

The latest Nike Dunk Low Pro "Ishod Wair" unleashes on February 2. Based on Wair's love for exotic cars, the sneaker itself was supposed to resemble a daring European ride. Red-and-gray layering and black trim harmonize for what appears to be a top-end Dunk release.

A refreshing $90 price tag—a familiar theme for Dunks—accompanies these kicks when they hit the Nike SNKRS app.

Adidas Ultra Boost 3.0 'Silver Pack'

5 of 5

Sneaker: Adidas Ultra Boost 3.0 "Silver Pack"

Release Date: February 5

Adidas is using this year's Super Bowl as a marketing opportunity to unleash the Ultra Boost 3.0 into our lives. Crafted as part of the "Silver Pack," the Ultra Boost kicks will drop at halftime during the big game, per Andres Carrillo of Kicks on Fire.

Using the halftime show to release the Ultra Boost 3.0 in limited quantities is a unique way to keep eyes on the product. The price point will be featured at $200. The rollout behind these shoes, combined with the fact Adidas has enjoyed immense success when it comes to all things Ultra Boost, should create a frantic, sellout environment.
