Toby Alderweireld Injury: Tottenham Defender Injures Leg vs. Manchester City
Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld limped off with a leg injury in the second half of his side's Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The club's official Twitter account reported the player's substitution and noted his knock. Alderweireld pulled up midway through the second half, forcing his removal.
It doesn't look bad," manager Mauricio Pochettino said, per Ricky Sacks of e-Spurs. "He felt tight in his hamstring, but it doesn't look bad."
City were 2-1 up and in the ascendancy at the time, having netted twice after half-time.
Sam Long of the London Evening Standard reported the defender's potential absence is a huge concern for Spurs as Jan Vertonghen is already ruled out for six weeks with ankle ligament damage.
Alderweireld is considered one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and Pochettino will struggle to replace his talent in the starting XI.
Tottenham went on to collect a 2-2 draw against City.
