Warriors Turn Chase Center Groundbreaking Ceremony into Elaborate Show
A groundbreaking ceremony is usually a simple procedure. Get some giant shovels and have someone say a few words.
Since nothing is ever simple in Silicon Valley, the Golden State Warriors transformed Tuesday's Chase Center ritual into a lavish event.
Right from the get-go, they set the tone for an over-the-top occasion:
But what groundbreaking ceremony doesn't have a construction crew performing a Stomp-style routine?
It might be time to go out on a limb and say those aren't actual construction workers:
Kevin Durant may have also dropped a major hint on his future. Last July, he signed a two-year deal with an opt-out after the 2016-17 season, but he looked ahead to playing inside an arena scheduled to open in 2019:
