Roof Collapse of Czech Republic Sports Hall Captured on Video
The roof of a sports hall in the Czech city of Ceska Trebova collapsed on Saturday during a floorball game, leaving spectators and players to flee the building for safety.
Video of the event was posted on YouTube, showing the people leaving the scene before the roof collapsed.
According to Nick Schwartz of Fox Sports, there were an estimated 80 people who were in the building when the roof began caving in. All of them were able to escape.
Schwartz cited a Czech report on the incident, which says the hall just opened in January. Martin Netolicky, the governor of the Czech Republic’s Pardubice region, wrote in a Facebook post that the "culprits must be punished.”
He also bemoaned the "sloppy" construction of the building.
