Florida's Canyon Barry, Son of Rick Barry, Shoots Underhanded Free Throws
Rick Barry attempted foul shots underhanded throughout his Hall of Fame career. Even though he rates fourth in free-throw percentage (89.98) in NBA history, per Basketball-Reference.com, few players have followed his lead.
Florida guard Canyon Barry, however, has adopted his father's philosophy.
The Gators senior, who transferred from the College of Charleston, entered Saturday's game against Georgia sporting an 83.9 percent conversion rate from the charity stripe. Like his dad, he has done so shooting "granny style."

It may not look cool, but shooting underhanded free throws has yielded positive results for the Barry clan. It's only a matter of time before a prominent pro outside their family tree uses it to his benefit.
"That's something that has surprised me and my dad for a long time now," the younger Barry told Reuters' Steve Ginsburg in late 2015. "Especially when you have people shooting 40 or 50 percent. Why not give it a shot?
