Dak Prescott Discusses His Late Mom, Her Critiques on His Interceptions

Dallas Cowboys rookie starting quarterback Dak Prescott played well throughout the 2016 NFL season, but he recently explained why his late mother would nevertheless remain a harsh critic of his work. 

Per CBS DFW, Prescott spent a portion of Monday taping a segment for the upcoming Inside the Huddle show that will air locally in Dallas on Sunday morning. He answered honestly when asked about how his mother would critique his rookie year. 

"Four interceptions," Prescott replied. "She didn't do well with interceptions.

"I'd come home from practice and tell her I threw an interception at practice, and she'd say 'Why are we practicing that?'"

Prescott later said he is so careful to avoid "creating bad habits" that he rolls the ball to a defensive teammate rather than tosses it during a practice. 

The rookie ended the regular season with 23 touchdown passes and four interceptions, helping to guide the Cowboys to the best record in the NFC. 

Prescott's mother, Peggy, died of colon cancer in 2013 while he was attending Mississippi State.
