Louisville Tricks Duke into Defending Wrong End of Basket on Inbounds

Andrew GouldJan 3, 2017

The Louisville women's basketball team duped Duke into giving up an uncontested layup to open the second half of Monday night's game.

At the start of the third quarter, the Cardinals lined up near the wrong basket for a midcourt inbounds pass. Before the Blue Devils detected the deception, Mariya Moore tossed the ball into Briahanna Jackson, who sprinted to the bucket for an easy two points.

Per the Associated Press' Joedy McCreary, Duke guard Lexie Brown noted in hindsight that she should have realized something was awry.

"They were laughing at us, and I was like, 'Why are they laughing?'" Brown said. "And then, layup."

The Blue Devils, led by Brown's 17 points, got the last laugh with a 58-55 victory.
