Victor Lindelof Transfer Announced by Manchester United
Manchester United finalised a fee for Benfica's Victor Lindelof on June 10 and formally announced the transfer on Wednesday.
United looked set to move for the player in January, although according to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, manager Jose Mourinho opted not to sign the defender because of Marcos Rojo's and Phil Jones' impressive form. However, United got their man in the end.
Lindelof has a stellar reputation in Portuguese football. In 2016, he was one of the best defenders in the Primeira Liga, delivering a string of impressive, consistent displays.

The 22-year-old boasts many attributes that will help him thrive in English football. He is physical and aggressive enough to cope with the frantic nature of the Premier League while also being composed in possession.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe thinks the defender will be a fine pickup for the Red Devils and believes plenty will be surprised by what he can bring to the team:
For United supporters, his would be an exciting purchase and could be the start of a brilliant kinship at the base of the team.
It's anticipated that Lindelof would be the long-term partner for Eric Bailly at centre-back. The latter's domineering performances were a major positive for United last season, and Lindelof's watchful method of defending, in practice at least, should be a fine complement.

It's a defensive structure that could underpin major progression at Old Trafford. After all, both are physical, dynamic and still improving; they're the kind of rugged defenders Mourinho has built title-winning sides around in the past.
Lindelof may take time adapting to a new club and a new league. But this acquisition injects major quality into an area of previous concern for United, and the Swede could help ensure there are better days to come at Old Trafford.
