Showtime For The Badgers

AJ HarrisonOct 7, 2009

Heading to the Horseshoe this week the Wisconsin Badgers are looking to get some respect from the nation.

The Badgers are the only unbeaten team so far in the FBS division that are not ranked in the Top 25 in the AP Poll.

Even though they have not played an extremely tough schedule, they have beaten two Big Ten opponents and have beaten a tough Fresno State side.

John Clay is leading the Big Ten in rushing which is a little surprising given that he has been splitting carries with Zach Brown. Brown has been a fumbling machine that will lead Paul Chryst to use Clay even more in the upcoming weeks.

Scott Tolzein has surprised the state of Wisconsin as he reminds the Badger faithful of Jim Sorgi, Brooks Bollinger and John Stocco. He is an athletic QB but thinks about throwing the ball before taking off with the ball.

The Wisconsin Offense has been the highest scoring offense in the Big Ten by scoring 35 points a game.

The key for the Badgers will be stopping the Buckeyes defense. The Badgers have looked good for most of the games on D but they tend to give up the big plays to opposing players.

The two Big Ten games the Badgers should have won by more if it was not for spotty coverage on defense. The Badgers will not be able to let OSU's potent offense to do that if they want to win the game.

The lack of media coverage is shown as many "experts" are either ignoring the game or saying the Badgers will lose.

Heck, ESPN "expert" Mark May predicted the Badgers would go 4-8 this year. I do not know what Badger schedule he was looking at but it has not been the one that Bret Bielema's team has been playing.

If the Badgers play close and lose they should still be a force in a Big Ten. If the Badgers can come out of the 'Shoe with a W, Iowa should be dreading facing the confident Badgers at Camp Randall next week.
