Ben Roethlisberger Closing In on 300 Career Touchdown Passes

Bleacher Report MilestonesDec 15, 2016

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger needs just three touchdown passes to reach 300 for his career, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.

Roethlisberger would also tie Denver Broncos great John Elway for ninth on the all-time touchdowns list with three passing scores Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals and would pass him with a fourth. The 13th-year quarterback has thrown three or more touchdown passes on six different occasions so far this season.

Staying healthy has always been an issue for Roethlisberger, but the veteran signal-caller has yet to play fewer than 12 games in any season. He suffered a torn meniscus on Oct. 16 of this season against the Miami Dolphins but missed just one game because of the injury.

Big Ben failed to add to his career total last week against the Buffalo Bills, tossing three interceptions for the first time this season. Fortunately, the team was able to overcome the turnovers on the back of a career day from running back Le'Veon Bell and won the contest, 27-20.

While the Steelers haven't grabbed many headlines this season, the club is quietly scraping together another solid campaign. After losing four straight games to drop the team's record to 4-5, the Steelers have won four in a row to push them into a one-game AFC North lead over the Baltimore Ravens (7-6).

The Steelers finish the season against each of their three division foes and will likely need to defeat the Ravens in Week 16 to earn back the division crown after losing it to the Bengals last season.
