WWE Rumors: Buzz on Road to WWE Roadblock 2016 for Week of Dec. 15
2017 is fast approaching, and the WWE rumor mill is beginning to go into overdrive about what could be in store for some of the company's biggest stars.
Chief among them is John Cena, whose return to WWE programming is imminent as 2016 draws to an end.
What is in store for Cena? And what's next for some of the other talent in WWE ahead of the Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view, set for Sunday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh?
This week's rumor roundup offers all the latest about the goings-on in WWE, as well as the latest talk behind the scenes.
Who Is Driving 205 Live?
1 of 3It's been a few weeks now since WWE 205 Live aired for the first time, and the new show dedicated to the cruiserweight division is beginning to take shape.
But who is behind the show? Many people suspected that Triple H, as the public face of the Cruiserweight Classic and a huge champion of NXT, would be the guy, but it seems that isn't the case.
According to PWInsider.com (h/t Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc), Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn are directly responsible for the new show.
This is interesting news to hear. Furthermore, the report mentioned McMahon has been "extremely hands-on" to try to get the cruiserweights to execute the vision he has for the show.
It's hard to imagine Triple H not having some sort of involvement, but it seems the boss is the one calling the shots.
The Reason Why Emmalina's Debut Was Delayed
2 of 3Raw had been teasing fans for a number of weeks with vignettes about the debut of Emmalina—or at least the return of the character formerly known as Emma.
However, her advertised debut this past Monday on Raw was pushed back without any explanation. Now, however, there is some clarity on the matter.
Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats reported that the reason WWE decided to push her debut back a week was due to this Sunday's Roadblock PPV.
That show will feature a spectacular women's division clash between Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, so it's probably wise to bring that feud to an end before bringing Emmalina in.
It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
John Cena Going Straight into WWE Championship Contention
3 of 3John Cena is on his way back to TV, and it looks like he's going straight back into the hunt for the WWE Championship.
World title No. 16 has evaded Cena for a while now, but this week, Ortman reported that Cena will be thrust back into the WWE Championship picture as the Royal Rumble approaches.
This will divide WWE fans. On one hand, AJ Styles is ready for a new opponent after a lengthy rivalry with Dean Ambrose, but some fans will wonder why it has to be Cena again.
Interestingly, Styles is slated to defend the title on the last SmackDown of the year later this month against Dolph Ziggler. It now looks like that bout will be nothing more than a holder to tee the champ up for another feud with Cena.
And who could bet against him winning title No. 16 after waiting so long?
