Tenny Palepoi Suspended for PED Policy Violation: Latest Details and Reaction

Rob GoldbergDec 12, 2016

San Diego Chargers defensive end Tenny Palepoi has been suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, the team announced Monday.

"While disappointed to hear the news today about Tenny, we respect and support the League's decision," the Chargers noted in a statement. "We are confident that he will learn from this and understand what is expected of him in the future."

Palepoi has appeared in every game for the Chargers this season, totaling 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.

While he has not earned a single start in 2016, he played in 42 percent of snaps in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers, per Pro Football Reference.

Palepoi originally joined San Diego as an undrafted free agent in 2014, playing in all 16 games off the bench. He then missed the entire 2015 season with a broken foot.

He returned to add some much-needed depth to the Chargers defensive front, but once again San Diego will be short on bodies, with Brandon Mebane, Caraun Reid and ZamirCarlis all on injured reserve.

Ryan Carrethers could be the next man up for San Diego behind starters Corey Liuget and Damion Square.
