Jets' Patrik Laine Accidentally Fires Puck into Own Net for Game-Deciding Goal

Kyle NewportDec 12, 2016

Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine did not officially get credit for a goal Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers, but he did find the back of the net.

Just past the midway point in the third period, Edmonton made a push for the lead. Whileย goalie Connor Hellebuyck turned asideย the Oilers' initial shot,ย the rebound bounced to Laine.

Unfortunately for the 18-year-old rookie, his clearing attempt went into his own net. Worse yet, it turned out to be the game-deciding goal.

Laine is off to a solid start to his career, scoring 17 goals through his first 32 games. It's unlucky that "No. 18" cost his team in this one.
