Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Joe Hart and Danny Rose
West Ham United reportedly want to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart at the end of the season, provided they preserve their Premier League status.
According to Matt Law of the Sunday Telegraph, the Hammers hope the fact they’re not a direct threat to City will give them an edge in the pursuit. Hart is performing well on loan at Torino, and it's noted in the piece that any foreign teams looking to sign the stopper could do so for £10 million.
Hart is said to prefer a move to another Premier League side, however, as he wants to remain in England manager Gareth Southgate's plans. But it's noted that West Ham would not be able to sign the 29-year-old if they were to go down.

After City boss Pep Guardiola dropped him at the start of the season, Hart made the switch to Serie A in August and has been part of an impressive start to the season for Torino. Meanwhile, at the Etihad Stadium, the man who replaced Hart, Claudio Bravo, has failed to thrive.
These numbers from Squawka Football illustrate just how testing the Chile international is finding the Premier League early in his City career:
While some City fans would love to see Hart between the sticks again, it’s difficult to see a way back for him. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Guardiola’s methods have brought him massive success in the game previously, and it’s unlikely he’ll deviate from them.
As a proven Premier League goalkeeper, international and a strong leader, Hart would represent a fine pickup for West Ham, especially with neither Adrian nor Darren Randolph completely convincing at London Stadium. However, there are plenty of strong sides on the continent that could do with a stopper of his pedigree.
City in for Danny Rose

According to Steve Bates of the Sunday People (via the Mirror), Guardiola wants to bring in Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose to improve his limited full-back options.
In the report, it’s stated it would cost around £25 million to prise away the left-back away from White Hart Lane, although City are not the only team said to be looking at the England international. "The Blues boss could face a Manc battle, with Manchester United chief Jose Mourinho also looking at left-back options in the transfer market," Bates wrote.
City's interest would make a lot of sense, especially given their recent problems in defence. Guardiola’s side looked ponderous throughout against Leicester City on Saturday, when they were taken apart in a 4-2 defeat. Football writer Miguel Delaney noted how the team struggled against sharp players on the break:
Looking at the personnel available to Guardiola at full-back, that passiveness is little surprise. Indeed, Aleksandar Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are all well past their respective peaks.

Rose would definitely assist in that sense. The left-back has become a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side and offers tremendous thrust on the flank. The 26-year-old is a big threat going forward but also possesses the pace needed to recover defensively.
While City could covet him, it’d be a big shock if Spurs opted to sell him. Not only would they be letting the defender move to a title rival, but Rose’s sale would leave a significant void in their own side. Consequently, City would surely need to lodge an offer well in excess of £25 million.
