Arsenal Transfer News: Dayotchanculle Upamecano Snubs Gunners, Top Rumours
Red Bull Salzburg defender Dayotchanculle Upamecano has spurned an approach from Arsenal as he waits for an offer to join Barcelona.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, (h/t Rik Sharma of the Mirror), the prodigious teenage defender only has eyes for the Camp Nou despite Arsene Wenger's concrete interest. The centre-back has attracted attention from Europe's elite clubs after becoming a "key player" for the Austrian outfit.
According to Sharma, the defender signed from Valenciennes for £1.9 million in 2015 and has developed into one of Europe's top talents after featuring for France's youth teams.

The 18-year-old already has European experience under his belt, featuring four times in the UEFA Europa League for his club this term, per WhoScored.com.
Here is Upamecano in action:
The youngster is a ball-playing defender and can draw comparisons to Rio Ferdinand in his composure and time on the ball.
He would ideally suit the type of centre-back Wenger would dearly love to develop at the Emirates Stadium, giving the team a long-term heir to the back four.
In other news, Arsenal target Edinson Cavani has professed his desire to team up with Antoine Griezmann, as he considers his long-term future at Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to SFR Sport (h/t Mark Brus of Metro), the Uruguay hitman proclaimed his hopes to play with the France international in the future.
"I would like to play a day with Antoine Griezmann," he said. "But I’m sure of one thing, I’m going to defend this shirt until my last day here [in Paris]."

The attacker has struggled at times during his career with the Ligue 1 champions, but he is still considered one of the elite strikers in the world.
The player has previously been linked with a switch to north London, per Le Parisien (h/t Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror). Cavani has "has held talks with Paris Saint-Germain over his future at the club."
Cavani would be the perfect striker to complement Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, providing power and predatory balance to the attack.
Wenger has lacked a top-class striker for many seasons, rotating his attackers to fill the void, but the time has come for the manager to sign a player who can play as a No. 9 each and every week.
