Micheal Clemons to Texas A&M: Aggies Land 4-Star JUCO DE Prospect

Defensive end Micheal Clemons committed to the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.

Clemons has spent the last year at Cisco College, posting 30 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in six games.

Rivals' Michael Passwaters believes Clemons can make an immediate impact at Texas A&M:

The Aggies are tied for 19th in team sacks (35), and Football Outsiders ranks their defensive line 44th in adjusted sack rate. While those numbers are solid, head coach Kevin Sumlin will likely have to replace two starters along the line.

ESPN.com's Edward Aschoff reported Wednesday that Myles Garrett has yet to make a decision about his NFL future, but the junior is a near-lock to forgo his final year of eligibility. Daeshon Hall, who's tied for second on the team in sacks, will graduate.

At 6'6" and 250 pounds, Clemons has the size to make a difference at the next level, and spending time in junior college will have helped prepare him for making the jump to FBS.

Replacing Garrett—a likely top-five pick in the 2017 draft—will be a daunting task for Clemons, and it's doubtful he can duplicate Garrett's 8.5 sacks. Still, the Sachse, Texas, native should be an effective pass-rusher and capable run defender.

Given the turnover on the Aggies line in 2017, a ready-made defensive end such as Clemons is exactly the kind of player Sumlin needed.
