Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe: Spoiler and Reaction for NXT Steel Cage Match

In a rematch for the NXT Championship, Shinsuke Nakamura successfully defended the title Thursday against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match at an NXT live event in Melbourne, Australia. 

According to Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com, the King of Strong Style was victorious, and his triumph will air on next week's edition of NXT programming.

After beating Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Toronto the night before Survivor Series, the Samoan Submission Specialist dropped it back to Nakamura last week at a live event in Osaka, Japan.

That set the stage for another rematch in Australia, and Nakamura managed to retain it—and perhaps end his feud with Joe.

Since the road to WrestleMania is on the horizon, now could be the perfect time to call up a top talent from NXT to the main roster, and Joe undoubtedly fits the bill.

Provided Nakamura's consecutive wins mean that Joe is no longer in the title picture, there is little left for him to prove as part of WWE's development brand.

Both Raw and SmackDown would benefit from his services, and his vicious style could potentially allow him to make a huge impact in January's Royal Rumble.

Conversely, Nakamura's win seems to indicate he will continue to be the face of NXT, which is a role he has relished and thrived in thus far.
