Liverpool Transfer News: Top Rumours on Alexandre Lacazette, Geoffrey Kondogbia

Rory MarsdenDec 6, 2016

Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette has hinted he would be open to moving away from the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer and Liverpool are one of the clubs linked with the striker.

Per Marc Williams in the Daily Star, Arsenal have been long-term suitors of the France international, but Liverpool have been recently linked with him also.

Both clubs will undoubtedly be pleased to hear then that he will potentially look to leave Lyon—where he came through the youth team—at the end of the season.

Per Le Progres (via Williams), Lacazette said:

"

Right now, honestly, I'm thinking of this season.

I prefer to concentrate on the team, play, score and try to beat the record of the club's legends. I know I'm behind Serge Chiesa [134 goals].

After that, next summer, we'll see. Lots of big names have been circulating and it's nice. We must think.

This summer, there were some very interesting offers, but the president [Jean-Michel Aulas], for the good of the club, said no. And I understood.

For me, staying here next year would not be a failure.

After that, I'm open to anything that might happen outside. I will be at an age when we must make decisions.

"

Lacazette, 25, has been one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe over the last three seasons.

He has netted 11 times in 11 Ligue 1 appearances so far in 2016-17, taking his tally in the French top flight since the start of 2014-15 to 59 goals in 78 games, per WhoScored.com.

Liverpool currently have an effective front line but arguably lack depth, while there have been reports that Daniel Sturridge could be sold, per James Dickenson in the Express.

Given their recent form in their respective leagues—Sturridge has netted just 12 Premier League goals in the past three terms—Lacazette would be a signficant upgrade on the Englishman.

He would also add further firepower, competition and cover to a prolific Reds front line that already includes Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.

Meanwhile, despite previous reports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Per Goal's Nizaar Kinsella, reports in Italy had linked the Frenchman to the Merseyside club, but "Klopp is only keen on adding options to his forward line and will not pursue Kondogbia."

Kinsella added that the 23-year-old is being pushed to the exit door by Inter and is being pursued by a number of Premier League clubsincluding Chelseabut Liverpool are reportedly not one of them.

Kondogbia could be a decent addition at Liverpool to bolster their defensive-midfield unit, which includes the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can.

He is defensively sound, comfortable on the ball and has an excellent passing range.

However, if Klopp is indeed not interested in signing him, it simply means the likes of Chelsea and Kondogbia's other suitors have one fewer club to compete with.
