Brock Lesnar's Best Booking Options for WWE Royal Rumble 2017

Donald WoodNov 28, 2016

On Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Paul Heyman announced during an interview with Michael Cole that Brock Lesnar would be the second person to enter his name into the 2017 Royal Rumble match.

After watching Goldberg beat him at Survivor Series and then become the first man to join the 30-man Battle Royal, Lesnar will return looking for vengeance at the January pay-per-view. If Goldberg wants to win a world championship, he’s going to have to go through Lesnar first.

Now that Lesnar is in the Royal Rumble, here are the best booking options.

Lesnar Surprises WWE Universe as No. 2 Entrant

As I wrote last week, the No. 1 entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble match should be Goldberg. Following the fanfare that comes with Goldberg’s elaborate entrance, the best option for the second entrant would be Lesnar.

With the genuine surprise of getting Lesnar vs. Goldberg to start the Battle Royal, the crowd in San Antonio would be electric, and the response to the two men coming face to face would make for one of the most memorable moments in recent wrestling history.

Once the staredown between Lesnar and Goldberg is over, the physical confrontation would break out into an all-out war. Thankfully, the WWE wouldn’t give too much of the rematch away because the two Superstars would eliminate each other before the third entrant ever hits the ring.

Lesnar and Goldberg are likely destined for another matchup at WrestleMania 33, and the ideal way to justify having the two legends square off again would be to have them cost each other a chance at a world championship.

Lesnar Almost Goes the Distance

Another possibility for Lesnar would be to enter the Royal Rumble early and run roughshod through the roster. With WWE front-loading the match with disposable talents, Lesnar could demolish them one by one until it’s finally time for Goldberg to come out.

The WWE Universe would be stunned by the sheer dominance of Lesnar as he continues to eliminate each Superstar before the next is announced, and the explosion when Goldberg’s music finally hits would make for an incredible moment.

Lesnar will pace inside the ring like a caged animal as Goldberg makes his grand entrance. Then the two rivals will come to blows in a fierce battle that should eventually have them eliminate each other.

Like the Monster Matanza Cueto did to Rey Mysterio in Lucha Underground following Aztec Warfare III, Lesnar should attack Goldberg after they’re both eliminated and leave him destroyed outside of the ring.

Add in the possibility of Lesnar verbally confronting Goldberg’s wife and child following the attack, and the Royal Rumble would be the perfect place to add a truly personal touch to a feud destined to continue at WrestleMania 33.
