WWE Rumors: Buzz on Road to WWE TLC 2016 for Week of Nov. 24
WWE's attention has now turned to the upcoming TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view next month, but beyond that, WrestleMania 33 is starting to come into view.
And judging by the speculation that has emerged online this week, it is clear plans for that show are beginning to be put together.
This week's rumor roundup features news of a major surprise for one top WWE star in terms of the opponent they may be facing at WrestleMania next year.
It also covers news of a shock heel turn in the women's division, as well as another big name set to enter the 2017 Royal Rumble match.
Here's the latest gossip surrounding WWE.
Sasha Banks Turning Heel?
1 of 3Raw's women's division is in a state of transition at the moment.
Sure, Charlotte Flair may still be the defending champion after beating Sasha Banks at Hell in a Cell, but with Bayley stepping up to face her, it means there's plenty of scope for change below that.
And Banks comes into that equation quite heavily—so much so that there's talk emerging that she may be set for a heel turn in the coming months.
That news comes via Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats, and although there's not much detail being published at the moment, it is an intriguing prospect to imagine Banks turning heel once again.
She's still over when it comes to her popularity, so turning her heel would be a challenge. However, if Bayley managed to scale the mountain and overcome Flair to win the Raw Women's Championship, it could potentially set up Bayley vs. Banks around WrestleMania time.
They had some epic tussles down in NXT, and the prospect of them recreating that on the main roster is an exciting thought, even if it means Banks has to turn heel.
A Future Opponent for Roman Reigns?
2 of 3The future of Roman Reigns always seems up for debate among WWE fans, but news has emerged this week of a potentially interesting direction for The Big Dog.
At the moment, it looks like he's headed for a feud with WWE universal champion Kevin Owens. However, Ortman noted that his WrestleMania plans may look different than the current path he's on.
Ortman reported that there's a plan in the works for Reigns to enter a feud with Braun Strowman, with a possible match for WrestleMania 33.
It's difficult to know how fans would react to this. On one hand, it keeps Reigns away from the Universal Championship picture, which could look exciting around the time of WrestleMania, particularly if Finn Balor is back.
But if Strowman is still in the midst of a major push as WrestleMania approaches, it's hard not to imagine Reigns ending that at WrestleMania.
It will be interesting to see how WWE plays this one out.
Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble?
3 of 3WWE confirmed its first entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble match this past Monday, as Goldberg said he would be competing in the marquee bout—and it seems the big names are set to keep on coming.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Brock Lesnar is set to renew acquaintances with Goldberg in January, as he is also booked for the Royal Rumble match.
Both guys being in the match opens up a host of possibilities in January. Do both men cost each other victory? Does Lesnar screw Goldberg out of victory or vice versa?
It's fairly obvious both guys will fight again, with WrestleMania 33 the likely destination. Doing it for one of the company's two major championships doesn't make much sense, so they have to both be eliminated.
Expect each to play a role in the other's departure when January comes around.
