WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 23

Erik BeastonNov 23, 2016

It was obvious from the moment it debuted that Sanity would be a dangerous force in NXT, and Wednesday night, it proved why, pummeling Rich Swann and No Way Jose while simultaneously sending a message to the locker room.

Eric Young and his minions were not the only Superstars to announce to the viewers on WWE Network that they will play key roles in the future of the show.

Ember Moon picked up another impressive victory, teaming with Liv Morgan and Aliyah to defeat NXT's resident mean girls, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay and partner Daria Berenato.

With TakeOver: Toronto in the rearview mirror, all eyes shifted to the immediate future of wrestling's most buzzworthy brand.

Find out why with this look back at the Nov. 23 broadcast.

Rich Swann vs. Kona Reeves

1 of 3

Fresh off a Monday-night victory that earned him a shot at the WWE cruiserweight champion, Rich Swann kicked off this week's broadcast with his brand of energy.

Opponent Kona Reeves was not content to let Swann grab the spotlight, planting him with a big Samoan Drop to take control of the bout.

Swann fought back and delivered an ugly attempt at a standing 450 splash when Sanity's music played, and Eric Young and Co. made their way to the squared circle.

The dangerous new stable beat down both Superstars, drawing a no-contest after just four minutes.

Young delivered a wheelbarrow neckbreaker to leave Swann unconscious and then cut a cryptic promo that smarted of the same rhetoric Bray Wyatt has been spewing for three years.

Result

No-contest.

Analysis

This was more of an angle than a match.

Using Swann as the sympathetic babyface to be beaten down and brutalized by Sanity was the right move. The impact of the assault is greater because fans legitimately care about the competitor taking the ass-kicking.

No Way Jose Calls Out Eric Young

2 of 3

After a commercial break, No Way Jose hit the ring to check on tag team partner Swann.

Not willing to sit back and watch as the same beating happened to his fellow NXT stars, Jose called out Sanity and Young.

Jose managed to keep Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton at bay but fell prey to the numbers game.

For the second time on the evening, the faction stood tall over a fallen competitor.

Analysis

In two segments, Sanity was established as a dangerous threat to NXT, but at the same time, it appears destined to suffer from the same ailments that regularly face The Wyatt Family.

It is OK to speak out against society, promise change and vow to bring down the machine. If it does not make good on the promise, it is a faction of fumbling, bumbling idiots who run their mouths with nothing to show for it.

Time will tell if Sanity will succeed, but Young is a suitable, believable leader who could help Fulton and Wolfe get over in ways they never were able to on their own.

Liv Morgan, Aliyah and Ember Moon vs. Billie Kay, Peyton Royce and Daria

3 of 3

Liv Morgan and Aliyah spent the last month suffering the onslaught of the united Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Wednesday night, they enlisted the services of Ember Moon to battle the evil Aussies and their partner, Daria Berenato.

Aliyah found herself isolated from her partners, worn down by the heels and nearly beaten on numerous occasions.

Moon was on the receiving end of the hot tag, exploding into the match and tearing through any of the women unlucky enough to be in her path. Royce tagged out to Berenato and then proceeded to leave the Tough Enough competitor to go it on her own.

That did not work out for her, as she succumbed to an Eclipse from Moon for the finish.

Result

Ember Moon, Liv Morgan and Aliyah defeated Peyton Royce, Billie Kay and Daria Berenato.

Analysis

This was far too rushed to feel meaningful in any way, which is a shame because there were some talented women involved.

At some point, NXT Creative must look at Moon and begin to develop a backstory for her. We know that she looks different and that there is an air of mystery around her, but why? What is she? Where does she come from?

When the brand answers those questions, fans will care more, and the result will be an eventual big-money showdown with Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship.

Aliyah and Morgan both have a lot of energy but are still in need of polishing. Heels Royce and Kay can serve as the backbone of the division if management so desires.
