
Philadelphia Marathon 2016: Men's and Women's Top Finishers and Results
Kimutai Cheruiyot won the men's Philadelphia Marathon Sunday morning, leading a pack of four runners who all beat the previous course record at the race.
Cheruiyot now goes into the record books as the fastest runner in the history of the race, according to the event's Twitter account:
Cheruiyot shattered the previous record of two hours, 16 minutes, 47 seconds, according to Jennifer Joyce of Fox 29, beating it by nearly a minute. He wasn't the only runner to set a blistering pace, either, as the next three finishers also eclipsed the previous record time.

While Cheruiyot had a battle on his hands among the men, Taylor Ward dominated the women's race, winning by nearly 90 seconds.

Racers faced tough conditions Sunday morning, with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees and the wind gusting up to 25 mph. So cold were the conditions that volunteers handed out blankets at the finish line:
According to 6ABC.com, 30,000 runners participated in the marathon, with 60,000 spectators lining the course.
