Chris Paul Robs Mike Conley as Conley Looks to Ref for Call
Chris Paul probably went through quite the emotional journey halfway through the third quarter of Wednesday's game involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies at the Staples Center.
The sequence of plays began when Paul intercepted a pass and seemed destined for an easy two points at the opposite end of the court. Memphis' Andrew Harrison didn't give up on the play, though, and he stuffed Paul's attempted layup.
But wait. There's more.
Paul and Memphis guard Mike Conley both dove to the ground to keep the ball in play. Paul stripped Conley and unintentionally bounced the ball to J.J. Redick. Redick missed a three-pointer, and Memphis secured the defensive rebound before passing the ball to Conley.
With the ball, Conley took a second to look behind him at an official, seemingly to argue he had been fouled by Paul during the earlier incident. Paul immediately noticed Conley's lack of attention, and the Los Angeles star picked Conley's pocket and then drew a foul.
Never underestimate the power of persistence.
