Cross-Country Runner Mowed Down by Deer
Zac WassinkNov 16, 2016
One cross-country runner recently learned those "watch for deer" warnings aren't only for drivers.
Per Gwynedd Mercy University's athletics website (h/t James Dator of SB Nation), men's cross-country runner Justin DeLuzio was competing in a race when a herd of deer sprinted toward a group of runners. Several of the racers fortunately escaped unharmed, but DeLuzio was directly struck by an oncoming deer. Both he and the deer fell to the ground before rising back up and completing their journeys.
Don't worry about DeLuzio, though, as he finished the race even after being mowed down.
Remember this next time you think about skipping the gym because of a small headache.
