Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Andrea Belotti and Alexander Isak

Christopher SimpsonNov 16, 2016

Arsenal will reportedly face competition from Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Torino sensation Andrea Belotti.

According to Ugo Trani of Italian outlet Il Messaggero (h/t Jamie Styles of the Daily Star), the trio are keeping an eye on the striker, who could cost well beyond £34 million.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an incredible year, netting 22 goals for club and country in 2016—he bagged 11 in the latter half of last season and has eight in 10 games this term, as well as three for Italy in five matches since making his senior debut in September.

Football commentator Adam Summerton believes Belotti has potential in abundance:

OptaPaolo also hinted at his bright future when they compared him with Europe's other top young talents:

The Gunners have long been in need of a top centre-forward to help fire them to the Premier League title, and while Lucas Perez was brought in over the summer, he's had little chance to show he can be that player for Arsenal.

Belotti isn't especially gifted from a technical perspective and his first touch lets him down on occasion, but thanks to his excellent positioning and intelligent movement he often finds himself in the right place at the right time—married with his instinctive finishing, he has the potential to be a prolific scorer.

The Italian is a strong, physical player who can hold the ball up well for his team-mates, and he's known for his tireless work up front to harry defenders out of possession.

Here are some of his highlights from this season:

Belotti will become a fine player if he continues on his current path, but it's perhaps a little early to suggest he's ready to lead the line for a club like Arsenal—particularly if he's set to cost over £34 million, which is a phenomenal sum for a player who has only burst onto the scene in the last year or so.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could have competition for another hot prospect they have their eye on—Alexander Isak of Swedish club AIK.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato's Ed Dalmonte), the 17-year-old "is the subject of a 16 million (£13.7 million) offer from Juventus."

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Calciomercato) has listed Arsenal among his suitors along with Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Bleacher Report UK's own Sam Tighe believes Isak will go on to be an important player for his national side in due course:

The teenager is already drawing comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has bagged 10 goals in 24 appearances this season.

It appears the Bianconeri are hoping to steal a march on the competition with an early bid—should Arsenal or any of his other suitors believe he is worth pursuing, they'll need to act quickly.
