Raymond van Barneveld cruised through to the knockout rounds of the 2016 Grand Slam of Darts, defeating Mensur Suljovic in Group F to claim six points from his three matches in Wolverhampton, England, on Tuesday night.

James Wade also qualified for the second round of the competition, advancing from Group G despite losing, 5-3, to Dave Chisnall.

Danny Noppert was at his best as he destroyed Nathan Aspinall, 5-2, to claim a runner-up spot to Barney in Group F.

It was a good day at the office for Peter Wright, defeating Ted Evetts, 5-3, to qualify in style from Group C.

Jamie Hughes edged out James Wilson in Group G, beating his opponent in a tight affair, prevailing 5-4.

There was also a slim victory for Dimitri van den Bergh against Scott Waites, winning by a score of 5-4 in Group B.

However, Van den Bergh then crashed out of the competition in a nine-dart shootout at the end of the night as he lost to Robert Thornton.

Tuesday Recap

LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 01: Raymond van Barneveld of the Netherlands celebrates victory over Michael Smith of England in their quarter final match during Day Thirteen of the 2016 William Hill PDC World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace on January

Van Barneveld's electric form continued in Wolverhampton on Tuesday, making short work of Suljovic to capture Group F.

The Dutchman has found his vintage best during the competition and raced to a 3-1 lead to break the will of the Serbian.

The Gentle could not find a way back, despite Barney playing well within his abilities, and the match was a breeze for the cool and calm victor.

3 Dart Analyst provided full match stats:

Wade could not make it three wins from three group games against Chisnall in Group G, but the Machine advanced despite the 5-3 result.

The two men remained neck and neck during the first six legs, equally sharing the scores, but Chizzy accelerated to capture the final two legs to complete the win.

Wade's three-dart average of 100.58 was superior to his opponent, but the pressure was off Chisnall as he crashed out in the group stage.

3 Dart Analyst once again provided full match stats:

Finishing was the key difference between Wright and Evetts in Group C, as both players averaged over 100.

However, Snakebite was lethal at the oche on the doubles, finding his rhythm to obtain a 5-3 success to qualify from Group C.

Wright explained he was unhappy with his performance despite strong numbers on the night, per PDC Darts:

Noppert gave one of the performances of the night, as he earned a 5-2 victory against Aspinall in Group F to grab a qualification berth.

The burgeoning talent from the Netherlands powered clear after the fourth leg, leaving Aspinall trailing 3-2. The 25-year-old was ruthless in the closing moments, taking the last two legs convincingly.

PDC Darts highlighted Noppie's form:

Barney is a genuine threat to the field as the group stage comes to a close in Wolverhampton.

The legendary veteran appears more focussed and motivated than he has in recent seasons, and he is producing quality at every visit to the oche.

However, compatriot Michael van Gerwen remains the fan favourite for the title.

Mighty Mike is yet to find top gear at the Grand Slam of Darts, but the longer form of elimination-style darts suits the player's relentless style.
