Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Sardar Azmoun and Mahmoud Dahoud Rumours

Rob BlanchetteNov 14, 2016

Iranian sensation Sardar Azmoun wants to stay with Russian club FC Rostov after interest from Liverpool, but his representative says he has an "open mind" regarding a transfer in future.

Kristian Walshย of theย Liverpool Echoย reported the 21-year-old wishes to remain with his team, but his agent,ย Mehdi Hagitali, said his client could move at a later date.

"

I read about the interest in Sardar from Liverpool, but I can say that at present there have been no formal proposals from either foreign or Russian clubs.

Now his main goal is to become the best striker in the Russian Premier League.

[Rostov manager] Kurban Berdyev is like a father-figure, and he would like to work with the coach.

According to Walsh, the player is known as the "Iranian Lionel Messi," and has made a major impact at international level.ย Azmoun has scored 16 goals in 22 appearances for Iran since making his debut in 2014.

Jurgen Klopp is reviewing his attacking options after the long-term injury suffered by Danny Ings, andย Azmoun was being considered as a target, per Walsh. The striker has had a quiet campaign to date, scoring only once, but last year he scored nine times in 24 games for his club.

Here is the player in action:

Russian football journalist Artur Petrosyan recently gave his opinion about the Iranian's link to Klopp:

In other Reds news, targetย Mahmoud Dahoud ofย Borussia Monchengladbach has attracted interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, with BVB prepared to offer ยฃ12.8 million plus midfielder Nuri Sahin.

German newspaperย Bildย (h/tย Uche Amakoย of theย Express) reportedย Klopp's former team have constructed aย player-plus-cash offer to tempt the Foals to sell the talent to them.ย Dahoud has a release clause which can be triggered for ยฃ8.3 million in 2017, potentially temptingย Monchengladbach to sell early for a much higher price.

As Ings begins the long road to recovery again, the Reds need to spread the attacking duties out amongstย the midfield and forward line.

Azmoun would be the perfect fit for the Anfield club as Klopp tries to add utility players that can supplement his tactics.

The comparisons between player and Messi might be wide of the mark in real terms, butย Azmoun would bring energy and guile to an attack which needs additional recruits in January.
