Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Bruma and Ronan Hughes
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United for transfer target Bruma. United manager Jose Mourinho is said to have become keen on a possible £8 million deal for the Galatasaray winger in January.
A report from Mike McGrath of the Sun detailed how Mourinho sees 22-year-old Bruma as the ideal player to add pace to his plodding attack. McGrath also noted how Bruma is only contracted with Galatasaray until the end of the season, so the Turkish club may be tempted to cash in.
McGrath pointed out Bruma "has also been tracked by Tottenham after his displays in Turkey." It isn't the first time Spurs have been mooted as suitors.

Last month, Squawka's Greg Stobart reported how Tottenham and north London rivals Arsenal had been stepping up their respective interest in Bruma: "The north London rivals have both scouted Bruma on several occasions and have made enquiries via third parties regarding potential transfer fee and wage demands."
However, Stobart did credit Tottenham with a more extensive watching brief: "Tottenham have watched the 22-year-old in each of his six Turkish Super Lig appearances this season, in which he has scored two goals and provided three assists."
Bruma has shown his admirers an enticing combination of pace and end product this season. He's scored four times and provided three assists in Turkey's top flight, according to WhoScored.com.
A winger who can beat markers and both create and score goals would obviously be useful in any team's attack. There's no denying United could use Bruma's skills.
Target man Zlatan Ibrahimovic and 31-year-old Wayne Rooney are static figures who lack the acceleration to stretch defences. It doesn't help that turbo-heeled youngsters Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay have both been out of favour since Mourinho took over.
By contrast, Spurs boast ample pace up top. Regular centre-forward Harry Kane is deceptively quick, while attacking midfielder Dele Alli and winger Erik Lamela can cover a lot of ground on the break.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino also has some pace merchants in squad roles. Forward Heung-min Son and winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou can both stretch defences.

It's not obvious why Spurs would need Bruma. Pochettino may be wiser to let United and the Gunners duke it out for the player by themselves.
Spurs Competing for Ronan Hughes
Tottenham aren't just scrapping with Arsenal and United over Bruma. Spurs are also reportedly competing with the duo for Hamilton Academical's teenage star Ronan Hughes.
A report from the Daily Record has named all three as being keen on 17-year-old midfield gem Hughes. He's only made three appearances in the senior first-team this season, per the report.
However, Hughes has already drawn comparisons to former Accies graduates James McCarthy and James McArthur. Both made the jump from Lanarkshire to Wigan Athletic.

Hughes is already drawing a bigger crowd, though, with West Ham United and Everton also among the queue of suitors.
Tottenham haven't been shy about signing young midfield players in recent years. Alli, still just 20, along with 24-year-old Christian Eriksen and 22-year-old Eric Dier, have all joined the club since 2013.
Spurs have a strong history of being brave enough to play skilled youngsters early. If Hughes can impress Tottenham scouts, he could be the next fledgeling ace to join Pochettino's precocious squad.
Adding some depth in the middle wouldn't hurt, but competing for Bruma with the wings already well-stocked, wouldn't make as much sense.
