Kimbo Slice the Greatest Fighter Alive?
Kimbo Slice has recently burst onto the MMA scene. After years of his street-fight videos circulating on You-tube, he made his much anticipated MMA debut on November 10, 2007.
Trained by former UFC Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten, Kimbo looked like he had a bright future ahead of him.
He has certainly started to fulfill that potential. His first three fights and he has recorded three wins. Two by knockout in the first round.
His debut was against Bo Cantrell, who he demolished inside twenty seconds. Love him or hate him, you can't deny, that's impressive.
In February of this year, Slice defeated "Tank" Abbott by KO within 43 seconds. Now, Abbott may be past his prime and has had some awful performances, but to knock a man that size out in 43 seconds in impressive.
On May 31, Kimbo fought James Thompson. In this fight, he looked much less assured. In the first ever mixed martial arts event shown on prime time network television, Thompson won the first two rounds. This was the longest match of Slice's MMA career. Did he have enough in the tank?
Well, it turns out he did. He delivered a huge haymaker, followed by three unanswered punches that caused a referree stoppage.
Many people were screaming "fix", as the conspiracy raged on about Kimbo's last fight. But was it a fix? Or is it people don't want to see a "streetfighter" like Kimbo Slice in the professional's MMA yard.
With many people wanting to see a dream fight between Kimbo Slice and Brock Lesnar, I think these two would be very well suited for each other.
Both have all the potential in the world to become greats in the sport. But at the moment, they would be out-classed by the best in the business.
The best should keep looking over their shoulder though, because Kimbo Slice is coming to get them! How long can his undefeated streak last? How long before he reaches the pinnacle of MMA? And how long before Kimbo Slice does become the best fighter in the world? Only time will tell.
