Browns Fan Plans Parade to Celebrate Possible 0-16 Season

Andrew GouldJun 8, 2018

Cleveland held a parade in June to celebrate the Cavaliers' NBA title, and the city was one Indians victory from hosting another one after the World Series.

Those teams' success has caused Browns fans to feel left out. Chris McNeil, who recently created a wedding registry for Fox announcer Joe Buck and Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber, responded by filing paperwork for a special proposed parade.

No, he's not expecting the 0-10 Browns to miraculously win the Super Bowl. Instead, he wants to celebrate historic ineptitude by honoring a potential 0-16 finish.

In 2008, the Detroit Lions became the first NFL team to finish a 16-game season without a victory. Having lost by an average margin of 12.6 points per defeat this year, the Browns have a good chance of joining the Lions in infamy.

Roughly 2,800 people have committed to attending the parade on Facebook, but would anyone actually show up to an event mocking their team's futility? And if so, would they all wear brown bags over their heads?

As McNeil told Deadspin's Emma Baccellieri, "It's about enjoying sucking, just embracing it."

"I can't spend another season as a Browns fan just wallowing in it," he said. "I wanted to take things in a different direction."

Sometimes it's better to laugh than cry, and fans could at least celebrate having the No. 1 pick in the draft.
