Luis Ortiz vs. Malik Scott: Live Round-by-Round Results and Highlights

Rob LancasterNov 12, 2016

Heavyweight Luis Ortiz failed to sparkle on his first appearance for new promoters Matchroom Boxing in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on Saturday.

Ortiz—nicknamed King Kong—had hoped to make a big impact in Europe to kick-start his career. Instead, the Cuban southpaw had to settle for a landslide points triumph over Malik Scott after 12 insipid rounds.

Thankfully, Stephen Smith and Jason Sosa thrilled the crowd in the final fight of the night, the latter retaining his WBA super featherweight champion by unanimous decision on the scorecards.

WBA bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell also won on points, although opponent Liborio Solis could rightly argue the verdict should have gone in his favour.
