XFL Documentary, NXT Pregnancy and Top WWE News from Week of November 12
NXT Superstar and Tough Enough Winner Expecting Child
NXT Superstar Wesley Blake and Tough Enough winner Sara Lee have announced through a post onĀ InstagramĀ that they are expecting a girl together.
Lee won the most recent season of Tough Enough in what some considered an upset overĀ NXT star Mandy Rose.
Blake is a former NXT tag team champion alongside Buddy Murphy, but he has been working as a singles star for the past several months.
Congratulations to the parents-to-be on the happy news.
WWE Promoting Indy Event
WWE has a working relationship with EVOLVE Wrestling, and this union has extended to WWE promoting the indy promotion's shows on WWE.com.
Current cruiserweight division competitors Drew Gulak and Tony Nese are the main subjects of the article, which goes into great detail about the possibility of the two wrestling for the EVOLVE Championship on Nov. 13.
This might not seem like a big deal, but there was a time not too long ago when WWE would never acknowledge the existence of indy promotions, let alone promote one of their shows.
Believe it or not, but little things such as this will likely be beneficial for the entire industry. By acknowledging and working with other companies, WWE will help ensure its own future by creating better opportunities for indy wrestlers.
ESPN Airing 30 for 30 Special on XFL
Considering what a monumental failure Vince McMahon'sĀ football venture, the XFL, was, it's surprising it took this long for someone to produce a documentary about it.
According to Jay Jay Nesheim of ESPN MediaZone, the special will be called This Was the XFL. It is directed by Charlie Ebersol, son of XFL co-founder and television producing legend Dick Ebersol.
The special will air on Feb. 2,Ā and it will chronicle the efforts of NBC and McMahon to create an alternative to the National Football League.
For those of you who are too young to remember, the XFL featured eight teams vying for a spot inĀ a $1 million championship game.
The experiment was a flop, and a second season was never produced. While the idea of competing with an entity as large as the NFL is laughable to many, you have to admire McMahon for taking such a risk.
WWE Announces State of the WWE Universe Address
WWEĀ announced viaĀ TwitterĀ aĀ special State of the WWE Universe address will take place on the WWE Network after Monday's Raw.
Daniel Bryan, Mick Foley and Shane and Stephanie McMahon will all appear to talk about their respective shows and the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view.
WWE has done a good job keeping up the illusion that the Raw and SmackDown brands are competing with each other by having the authority figures and wrestlers constantly take jabs at each other during their shows and through social media.
It will be interesting to see how this is handled. The company easily could have wedged a segment into Raw's three hours to address the WWE Universe, so having a separate show on the WWE Network could indicateĀ something special is planned.
