Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho Announced for WWE Roadblock 2016 PPV

PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh announced Tuesday on Facebook that Seth Rollins will clash with Chris Jericho at WWE Roadblock on Dec. 18.

Roadblock will be WWE's final pay-per-view before the 2017 Royal Rumble on Jan. 29.

Only one other match has been announced for the card so far: Roman Reigns will challenge Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Together, the two bouts will further the ongoing feud between the four stars.

Both Rollins and Reigns want Owens' Universal Championship, and Jericho has inserted himself to support his friend. As a result of Jericho and Owens' alliance, Rollins and Reigns—once fierce adversaries—are fighting on the same side again.

On the Oct. 31 edition of Raw, Rollins came to Reigns' aid after he was on the receiving end of a beatdown by Jeri-KO.

It will be interesting to see how WWE handles the second edition of Roadblock.

The PPV debuted in March as a WWE Network-exclusive show. Since it came less than a month before WrestleMania 32, little of note happened. In three championship matches, the champion retained the belt each time.

WWE will have a little more freedom with Roadblock: End of the Line, and the show will likely serve as the prelude for the Road to WrestleMania.

Owens and Jericho's friendship is bound to crash and burn sooner or later, and WWE is already sewing the seeds, with Owens pinning Jericho to win a Fatal 5-Way match on Monday night.

Roadblock could represent the tipping point, with one of Jericho or Owens costing the other his respective match. It would be easy to transition the current storyline to Jericho vs. Owens and Rollins vs. Reigns for WrestleMania 33.

Regardless of whether their match registers a big impact in WWE's long-term plans, Jericho vs. Rollins should be entertaining.
