San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick
The Arizona Cardinals (3-4-1) will look to end a two-game winless streak and stay in contention for an NFC playoff spot when they host the San Francisco 49ers (1-7) as double-digit home favorites. The Cardinals hope their recently completed bye week helped clear their minds and put them back on track as they face a San Francisco team that has lost seven straight games.
Point spread: The Cardinals opened as 12.5-point favorites; the total was 48 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the 49ers can cover the spread
The 49ers have not been close in any of their last four games, losing all of them by double digits. But they are familiar with Arizona as an NFC West rival and hung tough in the first half of their last meeting back in Week 5 on a Thursday night. That game was tied 7-7 at halftime before the Cardinals pulled away to cover the spread as 3.5-point road favorites in a 33-21 victory.
However, Blaine Gabbert was San Francisco's quarterback then, and Colin Kaepernick has done a solid job replacing him the last three games, including throwing for 398 yards versus the New Orleans Saints last week.
Why the Cardinals can cover the spread
Arizona is a much better team than its record indicates, and the defending NFC West champions need to start playing better immediately in order to make a second-half run at the postseason.
The Cardinals did not have starting quarterback Carson Palmer available in the first meeting with the 49ers earlier this year due to a concussion, and he has played great in the last three games since returning in averaging 306 passing yards.
San Francisco has failed to cover the spread in its previous five road games, and Arizona's crowd will be pumped up to take down one of the NFL's worst teams.
Smart pick
The point spread is a bit too high, and that should scare bettors away from backing the Cardinals in this spot. They are only 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 games as double-digit chalk, and the 49ers have gone 8-3 ATS in the previous 11 meetings at University of Phoenix Stadium. San Francisco may not be able to pull off the upset but should be able to keep it close enough to cover.
Betting trends
The 49ers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games on the road against the Cardinals.
The total has gone over in seven of the Cardinals' last eight games in Week 10.
The 49ers are 0-5 ATS in their last five games on the road.
