Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Jets Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comNov 9, 2016

The Los Angeles Rams will attempt to halt a four-game winless stretch (both straight up and against the spread) Sunday afternoon when they visit the New York Jets.

The Rams mustered just 10 points in each of their past two games, home losses to the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers, and have surrendered 26 points per game on the road this season.

New York has won two of three SU, ending a 1-5 run to start the season. The Jets have also averaged 26 points per game over their past three games after tallying just three points in two of their previous four.

Why the Rams can cover the spread

The silver lining of the Rams' current slide is their defense, which has allowed 19 or fewer points in three of the team's past five and four times total this season. Los Angeles also ranks a respectable 11th in the league this season in points per game allowed at 20.9.

Los Angeles has consistently kept things low-scoring on the road, forcing the point total under in eight of its past 10 contests. But the club has also scored 28 or more points in two of its past three away from home.

The Rams have performed well in recent dates as road underdogs, going 3-1 SU and ATS in their past four such outings.

Why the Jets can cover the spread

The Jets have been a solid pick as betting favorites, posting SU and ATS wins in their past two such games. New York is also 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in its past six as home chalk.

New York needs to exploit mistakes made by the Rams, who have committed nine total turnovers during their current losing streak. That includes interceptions returned for touchdowns in recent losses to the Buffalo Bills and Giants.

The Rams have been dismal on the road following consecutive home games, amassing a 3-16 SU record over their past 19.

Smart pick

The Jets have averaged over 30 points per game during their three-game SU and ATS win streak as home chalk, holding opponents to just 12 points per game over their past two.

Los Angeles has scored 17 or fewer points in nine of its past 13 road dates. Los Angeles is also just 2-12 SU in its past 14 against the AFC East, covering in just five of those contests.

Look for New York to pick up the SU home victory, covering as a narrow betting favorite.

Betting trends

The Rams are 7-2 SU and ATS in their last nine games against the Jets.

The total has gone over in the Rams' last four games against the Jets.

The Jets are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games in November.
