Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Sergio Aguero and Martin Odegaard

Gianni VerschuerenNov 7, 2016

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is convinced Sergio Aguero will not be leaving for Real Madrid anytime soon, while Rennes are reportedly once again eyeing a move for Martin Odegaard.

As reported by Gary Stonehouse of the Sun, Gundogan reacted to the latest round of rumours linking Aguero with Los Blancos, saying he's sure the Argentinian will not be leaving:

"

I think he will stay here. I have no doubt about that.

He’s very good. I’m lucky that I played with Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund and now Sergio.

Lewandowski, of course, is taller, but both are very strong and are able to keep the ball. And Sergio, he’s just a goal machine. I mean if he has the chances to score then 90–95 per cent of the time he will score.

If you know you have such a player in your team then you know that you are always able to score and will always create your chances.

Per the report, Real are determined to bring Aguero to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, in spite of their transfer ban. Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express reports Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the former Atletico Madrid man.

Aguero has yet to give any indication he wants to leave City in the near future for any club but one, however. He has already confirmed to Independiente en la Uno (h/t TalkSport) his dream is to return to Independiente in 2018:

"

It's clear that I'm going to return to Independiente and retire there. My family know that...I'm going to go there when my contract with Manchester City finishes in 2018.

Here (at City) they know what I want to do, they know I want to return to Argentina.

I'm giving you my word that I want to return to Avellaneda when I leave England.

"

The 28-year-old's revelation hasn't done anything to deter the international gossip papers from doing their thing, however, especially in the wake of his benching in the first UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Manager Pep Guardiola reinstalled him in the squad for the return leg, a 3-1 win, and the Argentina international has been in great form ever since.

Aguero is one of the top players in Manchester City history, sporting a remarkable scoring record, per Bleacher Report UK:

As a former Atletico hero, it would be a surprise to see Aguero leave England to join the Rojiblancos' main rival. The pending transfer ban makes a move even less likely, and with Aguero seemingly keen to return to Argentina in the next two years, Gundogan is probably right when he says he'll stay for now.

Elsewhere, Spanish daily Marca (h/t Goal) reports Rennes are once again eyeing a move for Odegaard, who will turn 18 in December and could then complete a loan switch.

Odegaard has mainly featured for Real Madrid Castilla since making the move to the Spanish giants, and a loan move to a smaller club seems the logical next step.

As you can see in this video, he's flashed his talent with Castilla and elsewhere on several occasions:

Real will likely be careful with Odegaard moving forward, as he's too precious a talent to push through the system in a hurry, but a loan move to Rennes or another club seems likely. A summer move would make more sense than a switch in January, however, giving the teenager more time to settle in.
