Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Aguero Rumours
Manchester City have reportedly requested to be kept in the loop on any developments over the future of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
That’s according to Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday Mirror, who has stated that City are ready to rival Manchester United for the France forward. Indeed, it’s suggested the Etihad Stadium club will “break the bank” to secure Griezmann, who is said to be valued at around £70 million by the La Liga giants.
The 25-year-old has blossomed into one of the very best footballers in the world since joining Atletico. Here is a look back at some of his best moments in the red and white jersey:

United reportedly want to secure Griezmann as a long-term replacement to Wayne Rooney, although City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be keen to make a major statement with the acquisition of the Atletico man. Chelsea’s interest in the striker is also noted by Hopkinson.
For Guardiola, Griezmann would be an ideal option to have at the point of the attack. Not only does he possess searing pace and an eye for the spectacular, he’s adaptable in the way he can be utilised on the pitch and has developed a superb work rate under manager Diego Simeone.

But, crucially, Griezmann has evolved from a winger into a prolific goalscorer. These numbers from Squawka Football illustrate just how much of a threat he can be in the final third:
The Frenchman continues to add to his game too. This term, with Kevin Gameiro at the point of the attack, Griezmann has been given creative license, dropping into spaces between the lines and finding team-mates with clever passing.
Provided he can balance these new duties with similarly impressive numbers in front of goal—he has netted eight times in all competitions already this season—then the Atletico man has the talent to become a complete forward. With that in mind, it’s no surprise City are one of a few sides willing to spend big on him.
Paris Saint-Germain Linked with Sergio Aguero

According to Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express, Paris Saint-Germain will make a move for Sergio Aguero at the end of the season.
In the report it’s suggested the French champions will swoop for the striker, as they seek to make progress on any deal ahead of Real Madrid. Subsequently, it’s stated that “PSG have instructed an intermediary to start the ball rolling.”
Fissler added that Guardiola will look to move Aguero on at the end of the season and acquire Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a replacement.

Any desire to sell Aguero is difficult to comprehend, as he remains one of the very best strikers in the game. These numbers from OptaJoe sum up just how important the Argentina international has been since making the switch to the Etihad Stadium:
Guardiola does have a bespoke style and demands that all players contribute in different phases of the field. But while Aguero may not be the hardest worker or the most adaptable, he’s well worth accommodating; his finishing, close control and turn of pace make him so difficult to cope with.
PSG are one of a minority of clubs in the world who could potentially offer enough to convince City to cash in on the striker, and they are still searching for a new talisman following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last summer. However, it’d be a massive surprise if the Premier League side opted to sell a world-class operator.
