Harden Records 1st 40-15-5 Stat Line in Rockets Franchise History

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 2, 2016

Houston Rockets guard James Harden had 41 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds in Tuesday's 128-120 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, becoming the first player in franchise history to record 40 or more points, 15 or more assists and five or more rebounds in a single regular-season game, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

Harden has now produced at least 26 points, seven rebounds and and seven assists in each of his team's first four games, but the Rockets own a modest 2-2 record following Tuesday's frustrating defeat in Cleveland.

Houston was within one point—trailing by a score of 96-95—with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Cavs then went on a 9-0 run and never looked back.

Harden padded his stat line with eight points in the final two minutes—even drawing the Rockets within three points with 85 seconds remaining—but Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith immediately responded with a three-pointer to extend the lead back to six.

Harden will enter Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden boasting averages of 32.2 points, 11.8 assists and 7.3 rebounds for the season, though he only has four steals in four games and is also tied for the league lead with an average of 5.0 turnovers.
