Elliott Tops 140 Scrimmage Yards in 5th Straight Game

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 2, 2016

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott had 96 rushing yards and 52 receiving yards in Sunday's 29-23 overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles, giving him five consecutive games with 140 or more scrimmage yards. That marks the longest such streak in the NFL since Chris Johnson enjoyed an 11-game run with the Tennessee Titans between the 2009 and 2010 seasons, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The rookie out of Ohio State is on pace for 1,826 rushing yards and 343 receiving yards, with his production in the latter category notably picking up in recent games after he mostly started the season as a pure rushing threat.

Elliott leads the league with 799 rushing yards even though the Cowboys have already had their bye week, limiting him to seven games so far.

The players in second through fifth place on the rushing leaderboard have all played eight games, with Tennessee Titans running back DeMarco Murray (756 yards) being the only one sitting within 90 yards of Elliott.

The spectacular rookie is a clear favorite to finish the season as the NFL's rushing leader, just as Johnson did in 2009 when he began his spectacular streak of 11 consecutive games with 140 or more scrimmage yards.

As for his own streak, Elliott will look to keep it going on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, with the matchup suggesting he shouldn't have too much trouble.
