Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina: Fight Date Announced, Comments and Reaction
Anthony Joshua will put his IBF heavyweight title on the line against American fighter Eric Molina in Manchester on December 10. News of the fight was confirmed by BBC Sport.
Joshua took to Twitter to show he's ready for a big night at the Manchester Arena:
More details from the card have also emerged, with Sky Sports confirming Dillian Whyte will defend his British heavyweight title against Dereck Chisora.
As for Joshua, he'll be making just his second title defence. It gives him a chance to keep momentum going in a stunning career that's so far included 17 wins from 17 fights at the pro level, all by knockout.
Still, the 27-year-old champion isn't taking Molina lightly. He's already keenly aware of the challenge, per Sky Sports: "I'm expecting this to be the toughest fight of my career so far, and I will be ready for an all-out war."
Yet while he's content to show some respect to the veteran contender, Joshua is still targeting another trademark quick stoppage, according to Sky Sports Boxing:
However, the 34-year-old Molina has made it clear he isn't going to be just another walkover fall guy for Joshua, per Sky Sports: "There is no heavyweight in the world that has bounced back like I have. That's the man that Joshua faces on December 10, and that man is a very dangerous one."
Despite Molina's bravado, though, this fight may seem like a bit of a damp squib to many spectators, especially after Joshua's proposed fight with Wladimir Klitschko fell through.
Still, any chance to see heavy hitter Joshua add more mystique to his already formidable reputation should be welcomed by British fight fans.
