Jim Kelly Says Tom Brady Is the Greatest QB in NFL History

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots handled the Buffalo Bills to the tune of 41-25 on Sunday, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly thinks his old team got beat by the greatest of all time.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Kelly talked to ESPN's Chris Berman on Monday Night Countdown and said, "I don't mind saying that," when asked if Brady is the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

Kelly acknowledged Brady's ability to put up head-turning numbers every season despite not having elite weapons every time out, via Reiss:

"

The consistency, every single year he does it. And he doesn't have, all time, the greatest players around him. A lot of times they are in and out -- [Wes] Welker is gone, a couple other guys are gone. He does have a great one in [Rob] Gronkowski, but the thing is he makes it work and it doesn't matter what it is.

"

Brady torched Buffalo with 315 passing yards and four touchdown throws to four different receivers (Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola) to earn his 26th career win against his AFC East rivals. Reiss noted it tied Brett Favre's record for the most quarterback wins against one opponent (his came against the Detroit Lions).

It is just another addition to Brady's laundry list of accomplishments that includes four Super Bowl rings, two league MVPs, three Super Bowl MVPs and 11 Pro Bowl nods.

That list alone is enough to land the Patriots' signal-caller in any discussion about being the greatest in history, and Kelly said Brady pointed to the continuity with the coaching staff that has been in New England for years when asked how he is so consistent (Bill Belichick has been the team's coach since Brady first stepped on the field).

Kelly understood the importance of that, via Reiss: "I was with the Bills for 11 and we had the same system for maybe nine out of 11. It makes such a big difference that you're not going from coordinator to coordinator."

That continuity has allowed Brady to put up incredible numbers at a consistent level despite the fact he is 39 years old:

Brady will not reach the 16-game mark this year because of a four-game suspension for Deflategate, but he already has 1,319 passing yards, 12 touchdown throws and zero interceptions. Cameron DaSilva of Fox Sports believes he will win MVP despite missing those four games.

If Brady adds another MVP in a shortened season and a fifth Super Bowl title to his already sterling resume, it will be even harder to argue against Kelly's assertion.
