How WWE Must Book Goldberg Leading Up to Survivor Series Match vs. Brock Lesnar
On Sunday, Nov. 20, wrestling legend Goldberg is set to return to a WWE ring to square off against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016.
While this is a dream matchup for many fans, the booking of the storyline between Lesnar and Goldberg in the weeks leading into the November pay-per-view must be almost perfect to ensure the WWE Universe is fully invested in the bout.
Leading into Monday’s episode of Raw, WWE officials had portrayed Goldberg in a smart fashion as a superhero, and they were attempting to portray Lesnar as the big, bad heel. While people didn’t want to cheer for Goldberg in Lesnar’s home state of Minnesota last week, the fans in Hartford voiced their support for the former WCW champion.

Add in the fact the feud heated up exponentially when Goldberg speared Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman and the stage has been set for a straight-up brawl at Survivor Series.
Following Goldberg’s appearance on Raw, it should be two weeks before the WWE Universe see Heyman again. With a neck brace and even possibly a full-body cast, Heyman should return with Lesnar to run down Goldberg for what he did and what will be done to him at the next PPV.
As Lesnar takes the mic from Heyman and begins to cut a promo, Goldberg’s music should hit and out would come the master of the spear. The men would come to blows on the stage until security guards and members of the locker room file out to pull them apart.
Not only would Goldberg interrupting the promo make him look like a true superhero who isn’t afraid to go right after the bad guy, but it would also add credibility to the notion Goldberg could beat Lesnar in a one-on-one matchup.
In the final week before Survivor Series, a traditional contract signing would work perfectly with the caveat that the two men aren’t allowed to touch each other or the match would be canceled. With Heyman carrying the segment on the mic and an epic staredown to close the segment, WWE Creative has the clear- cut path to the perfect booking of this storyline heading into Survivor Series.
With WWE officials keeping both Goldberg and Lesnar off the mic and letting the aura of two legitimate powerhouses carry the angle, the Survivor Series match will be a success in the ring and from a financial perspective.
