MMA from an ADD Mind: Random Thoughts on Elite XC, WEC, And Tito Ortiz
The Mixed Martial Arts world has had a lotta exposure the last few weeks. From UFC 84, to Elite XC on CBS, to WEC last night, here are my random thoughts on the recent happenings in the world of MMA.
Elite XC On CBS
I waited until today to post my thoughts, as our MMA site has been flooded with Kevin Ferguson articles. Some were for him, some against him, some had no clue what they were even writing about. While most hardcore MMA fans seem to agree this extensive coverage of "Fergie" was not warranted, I will say this—it's not his fault.
As for the show, I think that Elite XC simply doesn't know how to put on a show good enough to be on network television. The show dragged on and on and on— there was all that booty shaking for no reason, and so much explanation of MMA that even fans that didn't know what they were watching probably were bored.
As for the fights, if CBS doesn't change their stance on blood and stoppages, they shouldn't show MMA. We don't need MMA shown under amateur rules. CBS should actually drop Elite XC and show something else, in my opinion. Imagine if they had shown WEC's event Saturday night.

Great card!
I think Razor Rob looked washed up, but I'll give it another fight or two before officially pronouncing it so. I'm not sure if it's because he lost his last fight by KO, or because he lost to Alexander before, but he seemed to be playing the point system last night.
Torres is my new favorite BJJ black belt. Not that I had any favorites before, but this guy brings it. He has good standup, doesn't mind banging, and once the fight hits the floor, he is constantly transitioning. I love it, and look forward to seeing him again against whoever.
I stated in a comment that I thought Faber has been watching Bernard Hopkins fights and has adapted some of his style. For those of you that aren't fans of B-Hop, his signature move is that sneaky lead right hand, then duck under and hold to smother any counter attack. Faber used this to perfection last night, and hit Pulver with it numerous times.
UFC
I think I'll be passing on the next two UFC events. UFC 85 is not something I'll order on PPV, or even take the night off to go watch in a bar. I'd watch it on Spike, or at least TiVo it, though.
UFC 86 I might watch, I'm still debating. The main event intrigues me, but the card is also not worth my $50. UFC 87 is the next must-see event to me.
My early predictions:
Rampage by KO over Griffin
Alves by TKO over Hughes
Bisping by decision over Day
Vera by decision over Werdum
Here's a thought—why doesn't the UFC combine UFC 85 and 86, and put the rest of the fights on for free on Spike. Now then I'd pay to see it.
I'll leave you guys with an update on my favorite fighter. Tito Ortiz has recently stated he won't be going back to the UFC, and in a recent interview, has said he will start his own promotion.
