Breeders’ Cup Classic
The jewel in the crown of this week's extravaganza, the Breeders' Cup Classic will feature the largest prize pot of all, valued at $6 million, and promises to pit the cream of the crop against one another.
Horse racing network TVG recently provided a breakdown of this year's Breeders' Cup pre-entry list, although there could be changes made in regards to who takes part right until the last minute:
The Daily Mail's Marcus Townsend reported Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien will take Found into the Breeders' Cup Classic as one of his 11 hopes for a result in the United States.
However, Laura King of Dubai Racing TV isn't banking on the favoured filly to get the job done at Santa Anita Park:
California Chrome is the favourite to clinch first place in the 2016 Classic, although the Art Sherman-trained star is likely to encounter heavy pressure from trainer Bob Baffert's Arrogate.
The field recently counted their blessings after Claire Novak of BloodHorse reported Nyquist would miss the fixture due to a "puffy ankle," although the injury wouldn't have a great impact on the quality of horses in the fray.
Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf

The less lucrative cousin of the Classic is, of course, the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf, and this year's spectacular has received a prize-pool promotion from $3 million (£2.5 million) to $4 million (£3.3 million).
The favourites are somewhat more difficult to pick out for this particular race, although Fox Sports analyst Andy Serling has tipped another of O'Brien's charges, Highland Reel, for big things:
There's also a potential spanner in the works, too, after the Daily Mail's Townsend reported Found could make an appearance in the Turf instead of the Classic:
Should Found make a late transition into the Turf, he would reckon as one of the race's heavier hitters, with O'Brien perhaps favouring his filly's chances more in this field.
Chad Brown's Flintshire is at short odds to take home the top prize at Santa Anita, and its trainer just so happens to possess a particular penchant for turf races.
