Cowboys Punter Chris Jones Fakes Punt, Runs 30 Yards for 1st Down

David McCrackenOct 30, 2016

Down 10 points with five minutes left in the third quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett dug deep into his back of tricks.

Facing a 4th-and-8 on his own 27-yard line, Cowboys punter Chris Jones looked like he was going to boot the ball away, but he pulled up at the last second and instead ran for 30 yards. Avid watchers of the NFL combine likely weren't surprised by Jones' wheels, as he ran a 4.68 40-yard dash back in 2011.

The Cowboys capitalized on the trick play, ending the drive with a Dan Bailey field goal to cut Philadelphia's lead to 20-13.
